- Symposium: Global Financial Crisis - The Way Forward
- Sydney, Bond University Postgraduate Centre, Australia
- Recurring financial crises are part of the cyclical nature of a free market economy. This event brings the industry experts from banking, regulators and leading scholars on specific topics to present their views. What is remarkable is that people often fail to learn from the previous experiences as well as to appreciate the risks engendered by sophisticated new developments. The size and scope of the present global crisis make it different in certain respects from earlier crises and highlights major defects in domestic and international regulatory systems. Reforms are needed but it is important not to over react. Was this a crisis of governance, or regulatory policy or both? How can we deal with both aspects? In the background are broader questions ?? are the basic paradigms of economic theory and regulatory policy adequate to explain the crisis or are we undergoing a paradigm shift?[gem?_?? den Informationen des Anbieters - according to site editor's information]
